Values & Ethics
At the heart of our jewellery lies a commitment to craftsmanship, transparency, and sustainability.
We are a tiny team of jewellers working from our shop and workshop in a 14th-century watermill in Dorset, powered today by a hydroelectric system — a quiet nod to the past, and a step toward a renewable future. Every piece is made with care, skill, and respect for the materials we use.
We work in 100% recycled silver and gold, chosen for their beauty, longevity, and lower environmental impact. Our jewellery is made to order or in small batches, with every piece designed by Lucy and worked on by hand. There are no shortcuts — lead times are several weeks, and each item passes through multiple skilled processes before it’s ready to wear.
What We Stand For:
-
Craftsmanship with Integrity
All bespoke pieces are made by Lucy herself. Stock items are made by Lucy and her tiny team, with some components made by trusted UK-based subcontractors — including casting companies, engravers, and stone setters. Every piece is finished by hand in our workshops.
-
Responsible Sourcing
Our silver and gold are 100% recycled. We do our best to source stones as ethically as possible, acknowledging that the mining of raw materials can be harder to guarantee. However, the cutting and processing of gem materials is now done in controlled environments where modern equipment and employment law are the norm, eliminating the risks of exploitation and child labour. Our stones come from workshops and factories our suppliers have personally visited, and they are confident that workers are treated fairly and well, in line with local standards.
-
Fair Work & Collaboration
Our staff are all part-time and employed on favourable terms compared to statutory minimums. We value skill, flexibility, and wellbeing. We also collaborate with small UK-based suppliers to keep our footprint low and our relationships close.
-
Environmental Awareness
Our Lyme Regis workshop is powered by renewable hydroelectric energy. We minimise waste, reuse materials where possible, and use recyclable packaging. Our jewellery is made to order or in small batches to avoid overproduction.
-
Longevity & Repair
Our jewellery is made to last. Over time, if items have been worn a lot, we offer repairs and maintenance where possible, so your pieces can be worn and cherished for years to come.
-
Transparency in Pricing
Our prices reflect the time, skill, and care involved in making each piece — as well as our commitment to ethical sourcing and fair employment. We believe in honest pricing and clear communication.
-
Inclusivity & Accessibility
We welcome all identities and relationships. In the design process, we offer practical adaptations where possible, and we’re happy to help you find or commission jewellery that suits your needs.
-
Customer Care & Education
We’re here to help you choose well. Whether you’re commissioning a bespoke piece or browsing our shop, we offer guidance on materials, care, and meaning — so your jewellery feels personal and informed.
-
Community & Local Engagement
We’re proud to be part of Dorset’s creative community. We work with other local makers, support small businesses, and occasionally take part in events in the Town Mill. We also offer discounts as part of the Town Council’s Gateway Scheme, to give back to the local community.
