Ashes Jewellery
"I absolutely love my ring that you have made so beautifully for me. It is the most special and sentimental possession I have ever owned. It brings me huge comfort and is a beautiful reminder of my darling daughter Imogen. I want you to know that along with my youngest daughter Isabella, and my two sisters, whom you have also made bespoke pieces for, that we will treasure and wear them always." Marie, 2022
In recent years I've been commissioned to make various pieces of jewellery which contain the ashes of a loved one. Behind the stone of each of these is a tiny and permanently closed compartment which contain the ashes.
How does the process work?
I make the band on its own (if making a ring) and send it to the customer, along with a small container for the ashes and their choice of stone. This a two stage process because once the ashes and stone are set in place, resizing isn't possible, so this gives the opportunity to resize the ring a little if needed. The customer then sends the ring, stone and ashes back to me to complete. The ashes are placed into a small compartment behind the stone and a 'lid' secures them in place with the stone set on top. The ring and any remaining ashes are then returned to the customer.
I understand that it's a very personal and precious item that I'm handling and therefore you can rest assured that I will treat what you have entrusted to me with the utmost care and respect.
