About
Lucy’s contemporary handmade gold and silver jewellery is inspired by the beach and sea from her home along the Dorset coast.
Her collections involve silver and gold shells and fossils clustered together with pearls and irregular silver beads. Each tiny shell has been cast from a real shell she has collected when beach-combing. The clustered effect is reminiscent of the random collection of shells and stones found when you dip your hands into rock pools. She says, “I endeavour to capture the essence of the beach from a particular form or texture and then translate that into jewellery, triggering memories of my childhood holidays by the sea. I think that we all have a connection with the sea and through my work, everyone can have a little bit of seaside to take home.” Lucy graduated from Camberwell College, University of the Arts London in 2005 with a degree in silversmithing and metalwork and now works as a full-time jeweller. |
